An armed attacker rammed his car into a Michigan synagogue on Thursday, driving into one of its hallways before his vehicle caught fire. Security shot the man dead shortly after the incursion.

None of the synagogue’s staff, teachers, or 140 children suffered injuries, police said. The car struck one security guard and knocked him unconscious, but authorities expect him to survive.

Regardless of your view on Jews, Judaism, or anything else, it is clear that antisemitism is on the rise. As far as we can tell, two basic solutions exist.

First, we all must universally reject blood hate. Judging any group of people based on their genes is wrong, regardless of whether they are white, black, Arab, Jewish, or anything else. Second, the Israeli government must stop insisting it represents all Jews. The world loathes what the Netanyahu regime has done in Gaza and that it dragged America into war with Iran, and pretending those actions align with the wishes of all ordinary Jews, rather than an expansionist political project, needlessly stokes hate.
