We do not report this with enthusiasm, but Zohran Mamdani is on a roll.

All three democratic socialists endorsed by the New York mayor won their city primaries on Tuesday, including one who defeated Congressman Dan Goldman. The two-term lawmaker lost to challenger Brad Lander by over 30 points. Goldman’s campaign received strong backing from the Israel lobby, while Lander has accused America’s “special ally” of committing a genocide in Gaza. Mamdani-backed candidates Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier also triumphed in their races.

Like when Zohran arrived on the national political scene, it is easy to see those who voted for these democratic socialists as crazed radicals whose views do not deserve serious consideration. But anyone who does so is making a mistake. Costs of living are so out of control that an increasing number of people have grown willing to flirt with Marxism as a possible solution. Unless the ruling class gets serious about lessening Americans’ economic hardships, some intensely radical politics will define our country’s future.
